the work to get there. The only day that we had time to make a trip up the side of the mountain was Saturdays, but between weather and our work schedules it was a trip that was not to be. We had been spending time out together throughout the week and since we were in the habit of driving around looking at different things in Nature. I thought what about going over to Chimney Rock; it has a great view of the Borough of Hollidaysburg, and it does not take a lot of time to reach the lookout. I now had a plan, so I put her engagement ring in my pocket, and set off to pick her up. I took a roundabout approach to reaching our destination, and the closer we got the more nervous I became. We had arrived at our destination. We walked hand in hand around the parameter of the little park they have behind the lookout, and I reached into my pocket and slipped it on my little finger on my right hand. I |
stopped midway around reached for her and gently kissed her on the forehead. We continued the rest of the way around the park and arrived at the lookout itself. And after a little bit of fun photography for her friends I got down on one knee. She had a look of shock, awe, and disbelief all wrapped into one when I spoke the words: "Katie, would you marry me?" There was a moment of silence because as I was to find out later she toyed with the idea of saying no. Which I am pretty sure would have destroyed me. I am very thankful that she said yes. I stood up and gave her our first kiss on the lips, which I have to say was quite electric. There is something to be said about waiting. After taking some pictures we headed back down the mountain side and headed to one of our favorite places for dinner -- The Phoenica. We talked and took some additional pictures and |
